OUR PRIVACY POLICY describes how we collect, store, use, and share information when you purchase from us, contact us or otherwise use our services.

INFORMATION WE COLLECT
To fulfil your order you must provide us with certain information such as your name, email address, postal address, telephone number, payment information and the details of the product that you're ordering. You  may also choose to provide us with additional personal information (for custom orders for example), if you contact us directly.

WHY WE NEED YOUR INFORMATION AND HOW WE USE IT
We rely on a number of legal bases to collect, use and share your information including:
  • as needed to provide our services, such as when we use your information to fulfil your order or provide customer support;
  • when you have provided your affirmative consent, which you may revoke at any time, such as by signing up to our mailing list;
  • if necessary to comply with a legal obligation or court order or in connection with a legal claim, such as retaining information about your purchases if required by tax law; and
  • as necessary for the purpose of our legitimate interests, if those legitimate interests are not overridden by your rights or interests, such as providing and improving our services. We use your information to provide the services you requested and in our legitimate interest to improve our services.
We require your full name and address so we can send your parcel to the correct address once your order has been completed. We request your telephone number so we can contact you in the event of a query with your order, and your email address for this purpose, and for the exchange of images to support your purchase i.e. to approve an embroidery design.

INFORMATION SHARING AND DISCLOSURE
Information about our customers is important to our business. We share your personal information for very limited reasons and in limited circumstances, as follows,
  • Service Providers. We engage certain trusted third parties to perform functions and provide services to our business such as delivery companies i.e. Royal Mail or courier companies. We will share your personal information with these third parties, but only to the extent necessary to perform these services.
  • Compliance with laws. We may collect, use, retain and share your information if we have a good faith belief that it is reasonably necessary to respond to legal process or to government requests.
We do not and will not sell any of your personal information to a third party.

HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION FOR MARKETING
OPTING IN
We require your permission to send any marketing or promotional emails. Entry onto our mailing list is by subscription only. We will only use your email for this purpose if you have subscribed to our mailing list.

OPTING OUT
Should you subscribe to our mailing list, and subsequently decide you no longer wish to receive further marketing/promotional emails from us, you can unsubscribe at any time via the 'unsubscribe' link located on each marketing/promotional email sent. You will no longer receive marketing communication from The Little Embroidery Studio, unless you choose to subscribe again.

THE LENGTH OF TIME WE KEEP PERSONAL INFORMATION
We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to provide you with our services and as described in our Privacy Policy. However, we may also be required to retain this information to comply with our legal and regulatory obligations, or to resolve disputes. We generally keep your data for the following period: 4 years.

YOUR RIGHTS
If you reside in certain territories, including the EU, you have a number of rights relating to your personal information. While some of these rights apply generally, certain rights only apply in certain limited cases. We describe these rights below.
  • Access. You may have the right to access and receive a copy of the personal information we hold about you by contacting us using the contact information below.
  • Change, restrict, delete. You may also have rights to change, restrict our use of, or delete your personal information. Absent exceptional circumstances (such as where we are required to store data for legal reasons) we will generally delete your personal information upon request.
  • Object. You can object to i) our processing of some of your information based on our legitimate interests and ii) receiving marketing messages from us after providing your express consent to receive them. In such cases , we will delete your personal information unless we have compelling and legitimate grounds to continue using that information or if it is needed for legal reasons.
  • Complain. If you reside in the E.U. and wish to raise a concern about our use of your information (and without prejudice to any other rights you may have), you have the right to do so with your local data protection authority
DIGITAL STORAGE OF DATA
The information collected during the checkout process is stored on our website server. The Little Embroidery Studio website is hosted via Go Daddy, who employ the following security measures to ensure all data collected is secure:
  • Godaddy.com is certified under the EU-US Privacy Shield Framework and the Swiss-US Privacy Shield Framework as set forth by the U.S Department of Commerce regarding the collection, use and retention of personal information transferred from the European Union and Switzerland to the United States of America.
  • Employment of security consultants dedicated to the security of customer information who oversee device and application security practices. Employees also receive annual training and periodic bulletins relating to security.
  • Utilise a combination of software and devices to protect the network from intruders, and employs physical protection measures to protect the safety of their employees and equipment.
  • Encryption of personal data provided via web forms using up to date standards to prevent other intercepting information in transit.  
COOKIES and PLUG-INS
Cookies are small pieces of data stored on a website site visitor's browser to track movements and actions on a website. They are also used for security purposes, to remember log in details and to preload pages already visited. We do not use plug-ins.

DATA STORED AS HARD COPY
Upon receipt of your order, we create a 'job sheet' detailing all the information required to complete your order, including your name, email address, physical address and telephone number along with specific order instructions. This is stored in a lockable filing cabinet.
